Top notch golf and gambling in Nevada without the Vegas hustle and bustle

By Brian Weis

The ultimate guy's vacation is weekend of golf and gambling. Mesquite, Nevada is a booming golf destination located 80 miles from Las Vegas without the Vegas hustle and bustle. A long weekend can provide world top notch golf and entertainment. The area boasts 8 plush golf courses and 3 Casinos that will not disappoint.

Conestoga Golf Club
The newest and arguably the best rated area course is the Conestoga Golf Club. Newly opened to the public 2010, this 18 hole masterpiece was artfully crafted by Gary Panks. He skillfully interwove the course thru the contours of Sun City Mesquite's spectacular landforms. Undulating through canyons with gently ascending and descending elevations, rugged rock outcroppings and tranquil water elements, the integrity of the land is preserved at every opportunity.

After the first few holes my fellow golf partners were speechless, we felt like we were playing a live version of Golden Tee. The feeling started on the second hole you will be face a 162 yard par three that drops 4 stories to a generous green surrounded on all sides by the golden brown desert.

The 4th hole offers a blind tee shot to a generous landing area. On the tee the hole disappears because the fairway abruptly ends with a 40 foot plus drop to a lower tiered fairway. Long ball hitters can reach the second fairway avoiding an intimating elevated shot to the green.
The signature hole is the par five 6th that is target golf at it's finest. The fairway is slit by 2 ridges and proper club selection is needed to give you a chance to par the hole.

Troon Golf is managed by Troon golf and it is a must play if your golf travels venture thru Mesquite or Las Vegas.
